Angelo José Fernandes has stood out for his dedication to voice music and voice pedagogy. A multifaceted musician, he has developed a variety of musical activities as a singer, pianist collaborator, choral conductor and voice teacher. Dr. Fernandes currently teaches voice and vocal technique and is in charge of the opera studio in the music department of UNICAMP (State University of Campinas).
He received his Doctorate and Master of Music degrees at UNICAMP, and also holds an artist’s degree in choral conducting and a bachelor’s degree in piano performance from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG).
Dr. Fernandes received a scholarship from CNPq for his postdoctoral studies to research voice techniques in choral practices of different historical periods. He has also dedicated his time to the Brazilian composer Carlos Alberto Pinto Fonseca´s vocal works.
He has performed recitals of chamber music, both as a singer and as a pianist, and, serves as artistic director and conductor the Contemporary Campinas Choir.
